Rural communities on the Island of Oahu play a vital role to our economic and social well-being. With 85% of Hawaii's food imported from outside the state, local agricultural producers are essential to our food security.
The Oahu Agricultural Development Program (OADP) provides resources to enhance the capabilities of local farmers, ranchers and land owners. This effort is to establish projects that will positively impact the O´ahu economy, by supporting diversified agriculture while protecting natural resources.
O'ahu RC&D offers a variety of workshops, as well as classes to agricultural business people to help them improve their business skills. Topics of this agribusiness trainings include marketing, bookkeeping, product development and more.
Integrated Pest Management is an holistic approach to pest management, designed to reduce insect and weed problems while minimizing use of chemicals.
Mililani Ag Park Irrigation System Upgrade is a project concerning the improvement of its water infrastructure. This efforts lead to the reform of the water filtration to 51 farmers (MAP tenants) and the ability of the system to deliver different types of filtered water to two types of water users.
