ORC&D assisted the Mililani Ag Park (MAP) and Wai Engineering, Inc., in upgrading their existing water infrastructure at MAP by improving the existing water filtration system. The results were improved water filtration to 51 farmers (MAP tenants) and the ability of the system to deliver different types of filtered water to two types of water users. The system also operates by gravity flow with no pumping required as well as the backflush control systems for the filters will operate off of solar panels requiring minimal operational and maintenance expenses.  Another side benefit to the upgrade is that by improving the overall efficiency and viability of MAP's operation, the relatively long-term lease for its' tenants will be secured.  This is a major issue for Hawaii agriculture since many Oahu farmers have tenuous land leases that average only 3-5 years or less.
