Agribusiness Trainings
To be a farmer, you must be a jack-of-all trades. You must understand the agricultural operatons while also having the skills of a business entrepreneur. O'ahu RC&D, in coordination with Agriculture Incubator Program (AIP), USDA-NRCS, and USDA-FSA, provides training resources for Hawaii Agribusinesses to help take their business to the next level. The trainings are typically held in a four-week series with each session lasting about 3 hours. Experts and consultants on particular topics are brought in to present and to also talk story to the farmers. Class sizes typically range from 5 to 15 with cost usually around $20 per session. Topics of training include but are not limited to:
Accounting & Taxes: takes you through basic bookkeeping, determining your cost of production, tracking cash flow, and preparing financial statements so that you may make informed production and business decisions, and submitting financial filings required by the government.
Marketing: this topic covers identifying and becoming familiar with your target markets, positioning and branding your company, products, or servies to your markets, and adjusting your marketing mix to appeal to your target markets
Regulations: deals with permitting, licensing, certification, and zoning requirements, conservation planning, insurance labor requirements, food safety on the farm, and structing and registering your agribusiness. 
Other: covers such areas as distributing your products locally or exporting your products, obtaining loans/grants, and providing a listing of various organizations that offer services to agricultural enterpreneurs.
