Attention Waimanalo Farmers

Grant funds are available through the O'ahu Resource Conservation and Development Council to install conservation practices that reduce soil erosion and protect water quality on farms in the Waimanalo Watershed.

The following are examples of eligible conservation practices:

  • Planting vetiver or other grasses for a vegetative barrier
  • Establishing terraces
  • Establishing a grassed waterway or buffer strip
  • Installing compost filter socks, coconut fiber logs and silt fences to trap sediment
  • Water catchments
  • Constructing a composting facility
  • Mulching
  • Planting ground cover (including planting grass along roadside)
  • Sediment basins

 

Click here to download the application form. Grant funds will reimburse up to 70% of practice costs. Preference will be given to farms with a Conservation Plan approved by the Windward Oahu Soil and Water Conservation District.
